ECO Camp

 A Summer Nature Day Camp

ECO (Every Child Outside) Camp encourages a healthy connection to the natural world and engages children’s curiosity through moderately structured environmental education-based outdoor activities. Each of the week-long camps have unique nature-based themes for children ages 6 to 12 years old. We offer eight weeks of camp (July 4th is a holiday, so camp this week is only four days). We want kids to have fun learning about nature!

Camp Detail

Camps run weekdays, 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. for ages 6 to 12. The vast majority of camp activities are held outside, with some exceptions for inclement weather.

Before Care and After Care are offered for additional fees.

Camp Staff

Camp groups are typically led by counselors who are established in college, and are majoring in education, environmental science, or other applicable fields. Co-leading counselors range from high school juniors to early college age.

All counselors have completed and passed the necessary background checks, are certified in CPR and First Aid, and all have received training prior to the start of camp.

We also offer a Counselor-in-Training (CIT) program for those younger than the above counselor age guidelines. This opportunity is perfect for teens who are interested in the outdoors and being positive role models to campers in their care. CIT’s are volunteers who are mentored by, and assist, older counselors. They will assist with nature walks, art projects, science experiments, and more. For a CIT application contact Vicki.

Previous experience teaching children (professional or academic) is required for lead counselors (i.e., counselors who are 18+ and leader or co-leader of their assigned age group).

Co-lead (assistant) counselors (generally counselors ages 16-18) should be good students with an interest in environmental education, natural sciences, nature-based art, environmental science, or a similar field. Previous experience teaching is preferred.

All clearances (Child Abuse, Criminal Background, and FBI) as well as CPR and First Aid training are required.
