Green Valleys Watershed Association began over 60 years ago as the French Creek Watershed Association at Welkinweir, the home of Grace and Everett Rodebaugh. Our Mission then was simple–prevent the Army Corp of Engineers from placing a dam across French Creek that would have severed fish migrations, caused massive heat pollution, and ruined miles of stream habitat. From that beginning we have grown into effective watershed organization working in a region with overwhelming development pressure. The challenges ahead are many–we intend to be there for them, making a tangible impact on water quality and ecosystem health.
